Stan Walker at the Randon Acts Of Kindness Promotion

Stan performed at the RAK Day in Newcastle today and here is some rather out of focus footage of the performance. Hope you enjoy 

He cut his hair already?...omg I better tell his fans here hahaha I just dunno why everyone had to make a big deal of the fro...it was fine..haha...but your photos are soo great!! yes nays..I still tell people, that I know friends who had a date with Stan and he sung 'smash into you' to them..good memories for SS too cuz.

Heya folks!


I was very fortunate that day as I was madly ringing the radio station trying desperately to win tickets to see Stan perform at a special VIP function on the 17th when I received a text from my daughter telling me she was reading in the paper that Stan was performing at a function in town to promote RAK Day (random acts of kindness).

My heart skipped a beat and I thought to myself *NOOOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYY* I’m not missing out on seeing Stan when he’s in Newcastle! I was like a giddy schoolgirl grabbing all my stuff (camera, phone, money etc) together ready to race off to see Stan perform. Little did I know that he was about 5 minutes away speaking to some school students at the local Christian college!

I rang the place where he was performing and confirmed that he would definitely be there and I took off like a rat up an aqueduct! I drove to the Harbour Foreshore and got a park (luckily) and wandered on over to where I thought they would be and there was absolutely NOBODY there but the organisers. No huge crowds, just a few people wandering around for their lunch break. I was stunned…….

Anyway, I waited for about an hour enjoying the glorious sunny day when I spied two cars pulling up and a bundle of people hopping out when I spotted Mikey in his bright yellow T-shirt. I didn’t see Stan until he started walking over towards the area and he ran off in a different direction! I later found out it was to change into his nice blue singlet for the performance.



I walked over to where they were performing and called out “Hi Mikey” and he turned to me and said “Hi”. I asked if he remembered me and he did but I still had to remind him who I was though LOL but after I reminded him he was chatty! It was time for the performance (they were running a little late though). Seth Drury (from Idol) and another guy did some talking and then they finally announced Stan. By this time the crowd had grown considerably but I got a nice up close position and I wasn’t budging for anyone!

Anyway Mikey positioned himself and they chatted to Stan a little prior to him singing. He did two sets. He sang Black Box, Hosanna, Unbroken, Smash into You and Choose You. I went nuts with my camera and nearly belted the photographer as he kept getting in my way! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I tried to video some of it (not as good as Kiwianna) and when he started singing Smash Into You I grinned the biggest grin cause all the memories came flooding back from the Lindt Café session.

Anyway, after the performance he dutifully went into autograph mode and I lined up with all these primary school aged kids for my autograph. Thank goodness I remembered to bring my copy of the CD with me. I was waiting in line and as I closer I asked this lovely young lady to take a photo for me and I didn’t know that she was one of the big wigs for the day escorting Stan around etc. We spoke about cameras etc and she was saying that her random act of kindness was to take a photo for me! She was awesome and as I approached I saw Mikey hanging back and called out to him to also sign my CD and he looked soooooooooooooooooo surprised I actually asked! Anyway he did it and as I went to speak to Stan I said “Do you remember me?” He looked a little perplexed (I think I do but not 100% sure) LOL when I mentioned Lindt Café he smiled and we hugged etc.

I couldn’t speak to him for long as there was a line up for his autograph so I stood to the side and spoke to Mikey for ages. We chatted about what they’d been up to and how he missed his family. We also spoke about their current health kick as all they were eating was fruit or fruit based drinks. There were some people there that amazed me. This woman with like 4 teenage girls and the one of them (16 or 17 years old) had a baby that was 10 weeks premature. They took some lovely photos of Stan holding the baby.
Anyway, Stan had to do some interviews afterwards and had to race off to catch a flight back up the coast etc. Busy busy boy……. By the end of the day I think they would have attended to about 5 events and caught like 4 or 5 flights.

I had a fantastic day and just chilled afterwards looking at all the photos again and again and again LOL I’ve decided that I’m hopeless with the videos so I better leave that territory to Kiwianna LOL

Thanks for those Linda - they are amazing photos and great to hear about your account of seeing Stan again. I do hope things slow down for him and Mike soon, don't want to see them burn out.
