Stan looks forward to some idle time

A VERY tired Stan Walker returned home this week after a whirlwind few weeks as the winner of this year's Australian Idol.

So exhausted was he from having flown around the country since the win, he didn't want to take off his sunglasses for photos.

The 19-year-old said he wanted to recuperate while he spent Christmas and New Year's Eve in Coolangatta with family and friends.

Last week, his album Introducing ... Stan Walker debuted on the Australian charts at No.3, after his first single, Black Box, entered the charts at No.2.

But there is no time to reflect on the success, with Walker already writing his second album and planning a tour next year.

In the meantime, he just wants to go into hiding.

"I have been loving every minute of it but it's been hard work," he said.

"I want to hang out with friends and enjoy time with family.

"It's so odd -- I hate the whole fame thing but if they want to give me free food and free clothes, that's all right though."

Born in Melbourne, and schooled at Byron Bay, Walker was working at a menswear store at Robina when he auditioned for Idol.

hahahaha Thats our Stan for you! :) hope he gets a good rest, i'm sure he really really needs it. and it will be great for him to stay with family and friends, lucky them. I think i will try to go deeper into my family tree, to see if there is any NZ blood in me, it will probably be hard to find, since i'm Eygptian, and egypt is a long way from NZ..hahaaha :)

Thats great that he is getting to rest with family and friends now!He must be absolutely exhausted :) Stan is the man!

A KISS from his 'mama' is all Australian Idol winner Stan Walker wants when he welcomes in the New Year.

The very down-to-earth Coolangatta star is back on the Coast to enjoy the festive season with his family.

And while Christmas is only three sleeps away, he hasn't yet bought any Christmas presents.

Walker told CC he wants to have a 'normal' Christmas and doesn't want it to 'be about me'

I was hoping he'd get some rest and spent some time with his famly and friends... so nice. He'll recharge the batteries!

i am so glad he is getting a rest...He so deserves it...He has been worked since he won and hasn't had time to himself.
After reading the article can't wait to see where he will be touring for next year...BRING IT ON....

haha that is a typical polynesian thing 'free food and clothes' you know that we are all food orientated!! my son loves playing professional rugby they give him the latest sports stuff..loves it..typical male thing as well

yeah poor Stan has had a hardout workload. He deserves a good rest, a good Christmas with the whanau/ family, and hey ..maybe write some songs!!

yes he does he has worked his bottom off so be great for him to get time out!!

haha fynest you know exactly what I mean!! I have dinner I am hungry after an hour!! why I have to diet all the time and exercise..not that I have done much last few months..I broke my leg and ankle and was in plaster and that ugly boot for over 3 months@@

ahahaaa , don`t worry im always hungry too omgg you serious , hope you get better from your injury haha , i havnt been eating " healthy & exercising " lately too which i need to start doingg buht it cant be now cos of the christmas season & being polynesian there is no point of starting now as im having a family get together & having a feast at my aunts place which means plenty of food :lol: LOLS !! hahas ..

...into hiding? if thats tru, its a little sad the pressure of 'fame' is at that stage...I know Stan has mentioned a few times he dislikes the fame part.

Awww shucks thanks Shooshoo.. I did get that!.. hehe I meant, I felt a little sad that Stan may have to hide from his public, in order to get a break/ rest/ kick back ... if his fame has come to that, it is sad to me. Im hoping he can just hang with his family, and be left alone to enjoy Christmas ..without the crazy fan stuff interfering... do u know what I mean?? I dont want him to feel he has to hide away in order to get away. Cheers Shooshoo
