Thanks Sammy for clearifying the platinum status of Stan's album.... it's a bit hard to get your head around on why it is so complicated... accredited certification, real sales... aaaaahhh All i want for Xmas is Stan going "real" platinum as in selling over the 70,000 units... then as long as he stays on the chart he'will be fine.

SuBo has an album of strictly xmas songs (am i wrong?) so it should sell the most before xmas....
Stan's album is great as a xmas gift but doen't end there. I thas no xmas songs in it and IMO can continue sell well even after the xmas rush has past....

what do you think? anyone purchased SuBo album?

Haha yeah I know her albums gonna be selling for a long timeeee but IMO I don't think their will be as much hype in aus for her 2nd album and if Stan can release a single everyone loves then he will get more fans and people will buy his next album :)

yes, he needs to bring out a kick-#55 single to promote the new album. he should go down the path of "Think of Me"... that song is the bomb

lmaoo i have to disagree it is a good song that might capture older audience but younger audience like around my age will not like it enough to buy haha sorry i thinknhe should be safe with a nice slow song with piano and that has meanigful lyrics haha would be better than a motown vibe :)

'save me' is lovely and young/old love it that could be the song to bring out as a single!

It is OK really - think of it this way - chart position is sales to end customers (or sales FROM retailers), accreditation of Gold/Platinum is sales TO retailers.

I look at it this way - the chart position is a measure of popularity in a particular week, while the Gold/Platinum "measure" is a measure of long term success - it isn't just a measure of this particular week, it is cumulative.

HOWEVER - I don't care - his album debuted at number 3 AND PLATINUM - PLATINUM PLATINUM!!!!

So he is Platinum in two countries and I think when the NZ charts come out for this week he will be double Platinum over there.

He must have sold a few units the week before though - don't forget it was released mid-week. Now, there must have been enough sales between that part-week and the 20,985 from this week for them to ship another 35,000 units - so the demand was there. Trust me, retailers don't order more unless they are pretty sure they are going to sell!!!
