Gin Wigmore and Stan Walker are the big winners at the New Zealand Music Awards, scooping four awards each.
The awards, known as the Tuis, honour artistic merit and commercial success and were given out at Auckland's Vector Arena on Thursday night.
Wigmore won the breakthrough artist of the year, album of the year, best pop album and highest selling album.
Walker first came to fame as the winner of Australian Idol last year. He won awards for best selling single, most airplay, people's choice and international achievement.
Wellington rockers Shihad were given a legacy award and were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame. They won their first award in 1993, for most promising group.
Other winners included the pop singer Dane Rumble, the hip-hop artist David Dallas and the Phoenix Foundation.

While this appeared to be more about a contest between Stan and Dane as to who has the most ridiculous hair, the three boys did an admirable job opening the show. Stan Walker, especially, proved he has the pipes to back up his Australian Idol hype.

In accepting his first award of the evening, Stan said people kept asking him all day if he had a speech ready. "And I was like, 'For what?'" he said. Next time, it might pay to heed the advice to have a speech prepared. Although his genuine surprise in winning so many gongs was refreshing.
