Stan Walker, Anika Moa, Dane Rumble & Ivy Lies For Taupo’s Biggest Summer Music Concert
New Zealand’s international star Stan Walker will headline Taupo2, along with a line up of famous New Zealand acts; including Anika Moa, Dane Rumble and Ivy Lies.
Taupo2, is an annual summer music extravaganza to be held on Sunday January 2, 2011 at the Taupo’s Unison Amphitheatre. Taupo2 is a pop concert for all ages - a great opportunity to bring the family, friends, kids, a picnic and spend a great Summer holiday evening listening to some chart-topping tunes.
Tickets are $37 + booking fee per adult with children under the age of 12 given free admittance.
Promoter Brent Eccles is excited by the 2011 line-up; the challenge was to come up with artists to top last year’s inaugural show with Dave Dobbyn & Gin Wigmore:
“Unison Ampitheatre is a unique venue and a great asset to Taupo. It matches the remarkable homegrown talent NZ continues to produce and I'm proud to be staging the event again this year.”
“Our first year with Dave Dobbyn & Gin showed us that there is a strong family market in Taupo and with this year’s expanded line up I expect another good crowd.”
At just 20 years of age, Stan Walker has become a well-known figure in the New Zealand music scene. Stan’s first single Black Box spent ten weeks at the top of the New Zealand’s singles charts, proving that he is more then just an Australian idol success story.
Since then, Stan’s sophomore album From The Inside Out has produced an extensive collection of hit singles, including Unbroken and Choose You – which have both gained platinum accreditation in New Zealand.
Taupo2 will be Stan’s first performance in New Zealand following his success at the 2010 New Zealand Music Awards, where he won four categories, including Highest Selling New Zealand Single and Highest selling New Zealand Album.
Stan is really excited to be back in NZ to perform in the New Year:
“I’ve always found New Zealand audiences to be the best. I’ve got a really hot band; there will be some surprises, some new tunes and all of my hits. Taupo, get ready to rock!”
Anika Moa is sure to charm audiences with her heartfelt songs, razor sharp wit and a passion for performing live. A finalist of the this year’s Silver Scrolls and winner of the Best Female Solo Artist at the recent New Zealand Music Awards, Anika is one the finest songwriters this country has to offer. Her fourth album Love In Motion was released in April 2010.
Dane Rumble’s first solo album, The Experiment, debuted at #1 on the New Zealand Album Charts. The album has generated no less than four top twenty hits; Always Be Here, Don’t Know What To Do, Everything (Take Me Down), and Cruel; the latter also taking the Silver Scroll award for most played single in NZ in 2009. Dane’s fresh new approach to music saw him take away the Best Pop Album in this year’s New Zealand Music Awards, making him a perfect candidate for the summer show.
Rounding of the star-studded line up is all female New Zealand Rock Band Ivy Lies. Since recording their debut album with Grammy award winning producer Clif Magness, the band has released three singles, including Addicted, Never Enough and the recent I Lie Awake. The young group has obvious flair for music and style, explaining why they are one of the most popular female bands on the New Zealand music scene.
