Yes, Krystabel - that is correct for the ARIA charts - NZ is a bit different - see below from the RIANZ site and note the difference between singles and albums.

The Top 40 Album Chart is based on retail sales both physical and digital from music retailers throughout the country.

The Top 40 Singles Chart is compiled based on a 75:25 split between physical / digital singles sales figures and radio play information gathered by radio data collection agency Radioscope.

The chart not only features albums, singles, compilations and DVD, but also a top 10 airplay tracks.

An independent agent Radioscope collects the raw retail sales data on which The New Zealand Music Chart is based. Radioscope compiles the charts using the sales information it has collected.

Gold and Platinum Certifications Singles. These are awarded on the basis of over the counter physical single sales and digital sales direct to the consumer.

Gold and Platinum Certifications Albums. These are awarded on the basis of wholesale sales to retailers.

Yep, I noticed that - although I was hoping to see the single go to Platinum, given it has to be selling well to still be at number 1. On the other hand, I guess perhaps the sales aren't as high with the Album out - people buy that instead.

The other thing I noticed is that Purple Rain has dropped off the NZ charts.

Pity that "Think of Me" isn't rating on either the NZ or OZ charts.

I would say people brought the album so they would not bother downloading each single song now! which is fine because you get more money with physical then downloading..I was reading an article on Michael buble and Susan boyle they both have people who prefer to buy their albums even though Susan boyle broke aussie record charts with her album under a 1000 copies of her album were downloaded in aussie .

More good news for Stan - doing so well on the 2009 (Aussie Artists) Aria charts, Black Box single placing #9 and Introducing Stan Walker Album at #16!! Yay.. congrats Stan

The great news re RIANZ is Black Box has gone PLATINUM as of Mon 4 Jan, and is still #1! (for the 5th week) Stans Album is still at Platinum x2, and still at #2 behind Subo. However, I am sure it will go Platinum x3 at this rate!! New Zealand loves Stan - yahoo!! xx

With such fantastic results Sony (Jaydee) must be rubbing his hands with excitement for Stan and what 2010 has instore for our Talented boi:p

yeah u r right of course Sarah.. only a very small market in comparison to Australia, however a market none-the-less! And the money tills are churning over hard cash, and a small percentage ending up in Stans pocket.

They are up early this week!

Stan is still at number 1 on the Singles Chart - 7 weeks now!

Also still number 2 on the Albums chart and Number 1 on the Airplay chart.

No increase in Platinums though.

I think Black Box could be on the Singles chart for 52 weeks at this rate! Not number 1, just on the charts for 52 weeks.

I find it interesting that his single is still up there in the aussie charts as well? one of James fan's I mean really diehard fans said in a post he could not get 'little black box' out of head lol..and that it has grown on him and cant wait to see what he does with his new album
