Surely that would help him climb the chart?
For a local artist he is doing REALLY well compared to Suzie??
Mind you is is up against some pretty heavy weight people....
The Boob... Black Eyed Peas......Lady Gaga and foo Fighters, Those people have been around on the charts a lot longer than our Stan!
I think he is doing outstandingly!

I agree totally. I really like that track. Problem is it is quite R&B and Australia is not really an R&B audience, unfortunately. Luther Vandross (as an example) was never really big here.

I can see that song doing really well in the USA.

Stan made it into the top 10 Australian singles for 2009 - given his release date, I think that is FANTASTIC!

Exactly Sarah - this was a rushed album, we all know that It is still charting and the single is doing better than I ever thought it would.

Still wish they'd release "Think of Me" as a single.

He is still topping the Australian charts and for homegrown recognition at the ARIAs at the end of the year, that is important.

To be honest me too his single is doing great it's still going strong.. Big Smile and #7 is alright for a rushed winners journey album...people don't buy albums or much like they used too they more wait to illegally download hopefully his next Album will do well with a good strong single for his next album he will gather new fans + old fans and more people to buy his album :)
But winners journey is going well.

I wanted his album to go double platinum - but it still could - Xmas is over now, so SuBo sales should quieten down..

Interestingly, I listened to a few previews of SuBo on bandit.fm the other day - and it wasn't my style at all.

good on Stan and I do not think anyone can bet Subo at the moment her album is still selling overseas like hotcakes! I do love her version of 'wild horses' hayley went on holiday before xmas so I do not know if what they are saying ..I mean some of her fans is that they did not promote her single well enough? I know Stan worked his tush off to promote both album and single

The single is going extremely well. Although only certified gold at the moment, going on sales posted on AuspOp in the first 4 weeks and what I know of the sales of a couple of other artists in the last 2 weeks from another source, Black Box is well over platinum. Probably over 85,000 sales right now. It is likely just a matter of Sony coming back from xmas for the song to get its correct accreditation. It looks like being the highest selling Idol Winner's single since Damien's. Likely to land up beating his sales though. I don't think Damien's single sold much over its platinum accreditation. 2006 and 2007 had very low singles sales.

Hey Josie, Hayleys cd wasn't promoted enough?.....does that mean she didn't put in the mileage/hard work like Stan....or management aren't pushing as hard for her?
Just curious...wish her well but all my energy goes towards Stanley!!!
Listen to the radio more these days....want to see how often they play Stan's song......definitely being promoted big time here in Brissie......now and then may hear Hayley's song but not too often.

Also, to reiterate Stan's album performance....
CHART WATCH 21.12.09 (2 weeks ago)
ALBUMS : In any ordinary sales week, Australian Idol Stan Walker would have 'pissed it in' with his debut album 'Introducing'. But this is the pre-Christmas sales week - and as such - there are two people standing in his way. One, a Canadian crooner - the other, a Scottish housewife.
Susan Boyle sells an extraordinary number of albums this week. In fact, since ARIA started compiling their charts using "electronically scanned sales data" back in 1997, only Guy Sebastian, Shannon Noll and Damien Leith have sold more copies of an album in Australia in a single week. SuBo this week sold an incredible 125,656 copies of 'I Dreamed A Dream', almost 40,000 copies more than she sold last week.
Putting it plainly, Michael Buble was a long way behind in the No.2 position. 41,451 copies of 'Crazy Love' were sold in Australia last week.
And putting it even more plainly, Michael sold almost twice as many albums as Stan Walker. Stan sold 20,952 copies of 'Introducing' to debut at No.3.

Hayley's song is actually getting more airplay nationally. These are their positions on the Airplay chart last week.

Good Day, Hayley Warner: Last week - 32. This week - 34
Black Box, Stan Walker: Last week - 59. This week - 51

    http://www.aumreport.com/amr100.html

But although airplay can help create hits, it can't force people to buy. You know the old saying about leading a horse to water. There are many major hits out there which hardly got much airplay at all. And many songs which tanked which were played to death on radio.

You only have to see where Ricki Lee's Hear No Speak No is, hardly troubled the ARIA chart at all but still at 30 on the airplay chart, and Vanessa Amorousi's Hazardous, which hasn't even entered the Top 50 on the ARIA chart yet, and seems unlikely to, but is at 21 on the Airplay chart. Stan is lucky. Because of Idol, people are aware of the song even though it is not getting massive radio play. And there are also places like youtube, tv music programs etc which also help sell a song. Radio is not the be all and end all Big Smile

Hey Sammy...LOVE IT when u contribute to the Forum, you have so much knowledge and everything is soooo interesting especially the bit regarding national Airplay. You may not hear Black Box too often on the radio due to chart play position, that does not mean it isn't selling!! Got that. Awsum Sammy.

And Simo: Re The Chart Watch item...
I am glad Stan is doing exceptionally well, I kinda thought with Xmas he would - even hoped Stans Album would go through the roof!! But who would have thought the Scottish housewife would appeal to the mainstream with such gusto and her Album would shatter all records around the world! I dont know anyone who has bought the Subo album except for an oldish lady (70). Buble is so very popular in Aus so not surprised his album is flying high!!

As long as Stans Album continues to sit in the charts...while the others loose popularity and sink!!..nah jokes... nothin wrong with good healthy competiton LOL - just LOVE Stan soooooo much!!!

Well, Stan's single is doing outstanding! Thanks Sammy for that insight! and I bet his album will perform great (sale wise) in the coming weeks.

AAP sort of got it wrong - because ARIA produces Australian charts and combined charts within the Australian market. Stan is number 1 on both the single and album Australian music charts - those numbers above are for the "open" charts - i.e. music from everywhere.
